MONDAY: SHAHEEN AND AYOTTE TO HOST SMALL BUSINESS COMMITTEE FIELD HEARING ON INNOVATION

U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) will host a US Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee field hearing focusing on innovation, Monday, August 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Southern New Hampshire University College of Online and Continuing Education. At the hearing, Shaheen and Ayotte will discuss efforts to help small businesses innovate, grow, and create jobs with federal and local officials, small businesses, and other stakeholders.

Prior to the hearing, Senator Shaheen will address the 73^rd Annual Meeting of the Teamster’s Bakery & Laundry Conference at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel at 9:30 a.m. Shaheen will discuss her efforts to protect American workers and promote job creation, such as her legislation reforming sugar price supports that unfairly benefit rich sugar producers at the expense of manufacturing jobs in sugar using industries.

Later, Shaheen will offer remarks at a panel discussion on clean jobs with business and environmental leaders at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm College at 11:00 a.m. Shaheen will discuss the economic and environmental impacts of climate change and also highlight her energy efficiency legislation which spurs strategic investments in energy efficiency in order to create jobs, save taxpayers and consumers money, and reduce pollution.
