Interning with Senator Shaheen is a great opportunity for college students interested in pursuing a career in politics and public policy. Interns will be able to participate in a broad range of office activities in support of office staff. Where possible, we will try to match assignments to individual interests. We also encourage interns to fully take advantage of all the resources of Capitol Hill and the surrounding institutions by attending seminars, hearings and other events that take place outside the office. Please indicate in the selections below which activities are of particular interest to you.

All applicants must also submit the following material with this application in order to be considered for an internship.

  • Resume
  • Writing sample
  • 2 Letters of recommendation
  • College transcript (unofficial)
  • Dates of availability
  • Completed application form

All internships with Senator Shaheen’s office are unpaid. Financial assistance through your educational institution may be available but must comply with Senate rules regarding potential conflicts of interest. Please let us know if you plan on receiving funding during your internship. Housing is not provided by Senator Shaheen’s office and must be procured separately. Information on housing is available here.
