If you are planning a trip to the nation’s capital, Senator Shaheen's office is more than happy to help make the most of your visit. Washington, D.C. offers many historical and cultural resources for visitors. The numerous museums, galleries, memorials, theaters, parks and gardens offer something for every visitor.
Senator Shaheen's office may be able to help coordinate tours for your group at the following locations:

**Please note that while every effort will be made to accommodate your tour request, due to limited availability and heightened security, you should notify Senator Shaheen's office of your trip AT LEAST three months in advance of your arrival.**
What: 45 to 60 minute tour
When: We can schedule you on a reserved tour of the U.S. Capitol Monday through Saturday, from 9:30AM to 3:30PM. Advanced notice is preferred for scheduling purposes.
Where: Prior to your arrival, please call 202-224-2841 to confirm your tour. On the day of your tour, you can meet the Tour Coordinator at my office.
Other: If you are interested in watching the Senate or House of Representatives in session, we have Senate and House gallery passes available in our office, located in room 520 of the Hart Senate Office Building. Please note that the Senate and House galleries are subject to closure by the Sergeant at Arms without advance notice. Capitol tour tickets are free and are available at the South West Kiosk of the Capitol Visitor Center beginning at 9:00AM Monday through Saturday. One ticket per person is given on the day of the tour.
1st Street and Independence Avenue, SE
What: 50 minute guided tour
When: We can request a reserved tour for you as late as 1 week in advance of your visit. The Library of Congress provides guided tours Monday through Friday at either 8:30AM or 1:45PM. If neither times suit your plans, the Library of Congress offers unreserved public tours at 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 1:30PM, 2:30PM, and 3:30PM.
Where: The Jefferson Building should be entered through the driveway level entrance facing 1st Street, SE. You should then proceed to the ground floor information desk to check in for your tour.
1st Street and East Capitol Street, NE
What: 20 to 40 minute tour/lecture
When: When given one week or more advance notice, we can typically reserve a tour/lecture for groups up to 6 people. Tours/lectures are given at 2:00PM daily, Monday through Friday.
Public tours are also available and you may tour the building (not the courtroom) on your own. The building is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00AM to 4:30PM.

What: 60 minute guided tour
When: The Pentagon is open for tours Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Tours are conducted by uniformed military personnel and entail walking roughly one and one half mile around Pentagon corridors and stairs. All tours must be scheduled AT LEAST 2 weeks in advance.
Security information is required in advance and must be approved for assigned group tours. Group tour check-in is at the Pentagon Metro Station entrance off the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s subway line. The tour window is on the left – just inside the entrance in the visitor waiting area.
14th Street and C Street, SW
What: 40 minute tour
When: We can request a reserved tour for you to visit Monday through Friday at either 8:15AM or 8:45AM. For the months of May through August, we can also request 4:00PM, 4:15PM, 4:30PM, and 4:45PM tour times. If none of the aforementioned options suit your plans, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing offers unreserved public tours every 20 minutes from 9:00AM to 2:00PM daily free of charge. The ticket booth is located on Raoul Wallenberg Place (formerly 15th Street) if you are interested in obtaining same-day tickets. Lines typically form at 6:30AM and doors open at 8:00AM. There is a five ticket maximum per person.
Where: The main entrance is located on the corner of 14th Street and C Street, SW.
Prohibited Items: Large bags, backpacks, strollers. There is no check-facility available.
What: Self-guided tour
When: Self-guided tour reservations are available Monday through Friday from 10:30AM to 4:00PM in the Fall and Winter, and from 10:30PM to 5:30PM in the Spring and Summer. AT LEAST 6 weeks notice is required in order to schedule a tour entrance time.

When: Closed only on Yom Kippur and Christmas Day.
We are happy to request that tickets be reserved for you to pick up at the museum on the day of your entrance. Tickets may also be obtained by visiting the ticket information desk at the museum.
