Shaheen, Hassan & Kuster Applaud $666K Grant to Support Manufacturing Growth in Winchester

(Washington, DC) — U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) today applauded the announcement of $666,000 from the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to the Winchester Economic Development Corporation to establish a manufacturing-focused industrial park. This funding will be used to make infrastructure investments that are necessary to establish the 24-acre first phase of a 55-acre manufacturing-focused industrial park and will create an estimated 243 jobs and $19 million in private investment in the region.

“Infrastructure investments are critical to our economic growth, and I’m very pleased to announce this federal grant that will help create jobs and boost Winchester’s manufacturing base,” said Shaheen, who has consistently advocated for this funding. “This is an important investment that will lead to significant long-term economic gains throughout the region, and I will continue to fight for resources that support economic development projects throughout New Hampshire.”

“I am thrilled to announce this federal funding from the Department of Commerce to support Winchester Economic Development Corporation in its efforts to expand manufacturing in the Granite State, which will in turn, stimulate job creation and help boost our economy,” said Hassan. “I look forward to watching this project develop over the coming years, and in the meantime, I’ll keep fighting to expand economic opportunity for hard-working Granite Staters and to ensure that our innovative businesses have the strong workforce they need to thrive.”

“This grant is great news for Winchester and the Monadnock Region as a whole,” said Kuster. “Upgrading the infrastructure to support the expansion of manufacturing in Winchester will boost economic competitiveness, create jobs, and lure more businesses to the area. I look forward to continuing to support economic growth in communities throughout the state to ensure that New Hampshire is the envy of New England and the country.”

“We are extremely excited about the investment the Economic Development Administration is making here in Winchester,” says Mark Tigan, the Chair of the Winchester Economic Development Corporation. “This commitment from our federal partners, as well as the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund here in New Hampshire, has opened the door to significant growth in Winchester’s manufacturing sector. This EDA grant is the culmination of several years of work and full cooperation from the Town of Winchester. We have lots of hard work in front of us, but we’re excited to get started.”

“The Board of Selectmen are very excited for this economic opportunity,” said Winchester’s Board of Selectmen. “We also applaud the WEDC for their hard work and dedication, and most notably, the Chairman Mark Tigan. The Town is honored to be chosen for this much needed economic boost.”

“We are inspired by Winchester Economic Development Corporation’s efforts and vision to create an industrial park that will attract manufacturing businesses to Winchester,” said the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund. “We look forward to working together to advance our shared mission to create quality jobs in the region.”
