ICYMI: Shaheen Welcomes NH Vendors for 14th Experience New Hampshire Reception in Washington, DC

(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) welcomed the 14th “Experience New Hampshire” reception, where Granite State businesses, restaurants, institutions and vendors from around the state showcased their products and services, including beverages, specialty foods, furniture and tourism opportunities, for policymakers and government officials in Washington. Photos from the reception can be found here.

“From sweet treats to delicious savory snacks and information about tourism opportunities, it was wonderful to show off what our state has to offer with lawmakers and stakeholders in the nation’s capital,” said Senator Shaheen. “Granite Staters already know New Hampshire has the best of the best, and the annual Experience New Hampshire gathering allows folks in DC to see that for themselves. Thank you to the New Hampshire State Society for hosting, the participating vendors who shared their time and products and to everyone who helped make this year’s event a huge success.”

At the Experience New Hampshire reception, guests enjoyed gourmet food and drinks from culinary training programs, specialty food makers and breweries from across the state, while also learning more about the culture and tourism opportunities in New Hampshire. The event, which took place in the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building, drew attendees including the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representatives Chris Pappas (NH-01) and Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) – alongside other members of Congress and federal government officials. Other notable attendees included Marty the Moose and Kodak the Bear.

Participating businesses included the New Hampshire Maple Producers Association, Contoocook Creamery, Dancing Lion Chocolate, Echo Farm Puddings, Granite State Candy Shoppe, Jack’s Crackers, Loon Chocolate, Maple Nut Kitchen, Port City Pretzels, The Spicy Shark, Stonyfield Organic, Concord Regional Technical Center, Lakes Region Community College, NH Food Bank, University of New Hampshire College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, Shire’s Naturals, New Hampshire Furniture Masters, SkiNH and more.

Earlier in the day, Shaheen and the Business & Industry Association of New Hampshire hosted the annual New Hampshire Business Day luncheon with Granite State small business leaders, providing them an opportunity to hear directly from government leaders and key congressional officials about federal programs and agencies that offer support to businesses. Speakers at the luncheon included U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-ID), British Ambassador to the U.S. Lord Peter Mandelson, former Assistant Administrator for Global Health at USAID Dr. Atul Gawande, NBC Chief Justice and National Affairs Correspondent Kelly O’Donnell, Commissioner of Food and Drugs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Martin Makary and Navy Secretary John Phelan.
