An army of robots descends on Capitol Hill (well, kinda)
by Shawna Thomas and Carrie Dann
A policy goal of one member of the United States Senate got a boost this afternoon from one nearly-universal fact about modern American culture: Almost everyone thinks robots are way cool. Sen. Jean Shaheen (D-N.H.) was aided by a small army of robots (and by the teams of students who built them) on Monday in unveiling legislation to help high schoolers gain more access to programs furthering science, technology, engineering and math education. In a presentation tied to the legislation's intr… Continue Reading

U.S. DOT delivers $20m for Memorial Bridge project
by Scott E. Kinney
PORTSMOUTH - The U. S. Department of Transportation has obligated $20 million in funding for the replacement of the Memorial Bridge between Portsmouth and Kittery, Maine. Sens. Shaheen listens to local concerns
by Katherine Burt

A stop in Littleton to hear concerns and answer questions from local business and political leaders was part of that mis… Continue Reading

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen: New START treaty will enhance our security
by Jeanne Shaheen
One year ago today, the most dramatic and comprehensive arms-control agreement in history -- known as the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (or "START") -- expired. The 1991 treaty, signed by President George H.W. Bush and ratified by the U.S. Senate by a vote of 93-6, was the culmination of President Ronald Reagan's vision and a demonstration of his constant appeal to "trust, but verify" when dealing with Russia. The United States benefitted significantly under the old START agreement, whi… Continue Reading
