At SFRC Hearing, Shaheen Seeks Assurances From Nominee to be Ambassador to Lebanon on Amer Fakhoury

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member and the only woman on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, questioned Ms. Dorothy Shea, the nominee to be the ambassador to Lebanon, regarding the continued detention of Amer Fakhoury by the Lebanese government. In the hearing Shaheen asked for a commitment to work towards a humanitarian solution for Mr. Fakhoury, a Dover resident and business owner. Shaheen warned that “time is of the essence” for Fakhoury and once again raised awareness of his deteriorating health.
