In Response to Trump's Attacks Against Postal Service, Shaheen Hosts Video Call with NH USPS Unions

Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) hosted a video call with leadership from unions representing New Hampshire employees of the United States Postal Service (USPS) to learn more about the destructive policy changes being implemented by President Trump and Postmaster General Louis DeJoy that are jeopardizing the operations – and survival – of the USPS. The call came on the heels of reports showing that the USPS is now removing high-capacity mail sorting machines from many of its facilities – including in New Hampshire. This is the latest in a series of harmful actions enacted by Postmaster General DeJoy – a political appointee – and President Trump for political purposes that have led to significant delays in mail delivery throughout the nation and serious concerns that, as the United States continues to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans will be unable to safely vote by mail.
