On 60 Minutes, Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Lindsey Graham Talk U.S. Strategy in Syria
U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, sat down with CBS News: 60 Minutes correspondent Holly Williams and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to discuss the United States’ continued role in Syria to defeat ISIS. Shaheen traveled to Syria earlier this year with Senator Graham, where she met with military personnel to discuss security in and around Manbij, and the need for a comprehensive strategy to end the violence in the region and provide humanitarian support. Shaheen has led efforts in Congress to develop a U.S. strategy in Syria. She successfully added her legislation to establish a Syria Study Group to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization legislation that was signed into law earlier this month. Shaheen’s provision establishes a bipartisan panel to complete a comprehensive strategic review of America’s policy in Syria.
