SATURDAY: SHAHEEN TO TOUR PITTSBURG BORDER STATION
August 22, 2013U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will attend the 22nd Annual North Country Moose Festival in Colebrook starting at Le Rendez Vous Bakery on Friday, August 23, at 4:50 p.m. Shaheen will visit the fair with Beno Lamontagne, North Country Representative for the New Hampshire Department of Resources and Economic Development. The annual festival draws hundreds of visitors to the North Country to take part in festivities from a moose calling contest to a classic car show. The Moose Festival showcases many of the North Country’s attractions and highlights local food and businesses.
Senator Shaheen will also tour the Pittsburg Border Station Saturday, August 24, at 10:30 a.m. and view the new station signage. Shaheen contacted United States Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol at the request of North Country elected officials to have the crossing officially designated “Pittsburg Border Station”. Due to U.S. Custom and Border Patrol regulations media will be unable to tour the facilities, but Senator Shaheen will be available following the tour.
