(Washington, DC) – Last night, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and the New Hampshire State Society welcomed 45 New Hampshire businesses, restaurants and vendors to Capitol Hill for the eighth annual Experience New Hampshire reception. The annual event gives Granite State businesses the opportunity to showcase their products and services for policymakers and government officials in Washington. Earlier in the day, Shaheen hosted her annual New Hampshire Business Day luncheon with Granite State small business leaders, giving them an opportunity to hear directly from government leaders and key congressional officials about federal programs and agencies that support, regulate, and offer research and technical assistance to businesses. Speakers at the luncheon included Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Senator Maggie Hassan, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Acting Chairman Cheryl LaFleur, Small Business Administration Administrator Linda McMahon, Senator Richard Shelby, Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent for NBC News Andrea Mitchell, and Emily Bassett, Commander of the future USS Manchester.

“New Hampshire is a small business state and both New Hampshire Business Day and Experience New Hampshire present an opportunity to share some of the best that New Hampshire has to offer with leaders in Washington,” said Shaheen. “Small businesses make enormous contributions to our local economies and our Granite State culture, and today’s events give participants a platform to highlight their products and encourage people to visit New Hampshire. I want to thank the sponsors, our incredible business owners and everyone who helped make this event a tremendous success.”

More than 400 guests enjoyed gourmet foods and drinks from restaurants, vineyards, breweries and culinary training programs from across the state, while also learning more about cultural and tourism opportunities in New Hampshire. The event, which took place in the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building, drew attendees including U.S. Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Chris Coons (D-DE), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Ed Markey (D-MA), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-2) and Carol Shea-Porter (NH-1), and other federal government officials.
