ICYMI: Following Meeting at Paris Air Show, Shaheen Tours GE Aerospace Facility in New Hampshire
(Hooksett, NH) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a top member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, last week toured GE Aerospace’s site in Hooksett, New Hampshire – an integral component of GE Aerospace’s advanced manufacturing operations employing roughly 770 people across the state, including many U.S. military veterans. Shaheen met with members of GE Aerospace’s team at the Paris Air Show, which Shaheen co-led a bipartisan delegation of U.S. Senators to in June. Click HERE to view photos from the event.
“After discussing GE Aerospace’s vital role in strengthening America’s national security and fueling New Hampshire’s economy at the Paris Air Show, I was pleased to see their state-of-the-art facility firsthand this week in Hooksett,” said Senator Shaheen. “Aerospace is New Hampshire’s largest export sector, so it was great to witness the cutting-edge innovation, engineering and manufacturing that the Granite State is known for.”
A primary focus of Senator Shaheen’s bipartisan Congressional delegation to the Paris Air Show is to connect smaller, regional businesses with leaders in the aerospace and defense industries. Aerospace represents New Hampshire’s largest export sector, including over $30 million in exports in aerospace products to France last year.
Operating for over 50 years, today around 12% of its workforce in New Hampshire comprises U.S. military veterans, and it supports more than 90 suppliers in the state. The company announced plans to invest more than $16M in the site during 2025.
In 2024 alone, GE Aerospace spent $60 million with suppliers across New Hampshire, reinforcing its crucial role in the state's manufacturing economy. The Hooksett site specializes in high-precision machining of complex metal components for both commercial and military applications, including narrowbody and widebody aircraft, fighter jets, helicopters, and naval platforms. The Hooksett facility also plays a key role in GE Aerospace's defense portfolio, including supporting the production of the T901 engine, GE’s next-generation propulsion system for the U.S. Army’s Black Hawk and Apache helicopters.
After co-leading the bipartisan delegation to the Paris Air Show, Shaheen wrote an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal about the importance of having a trade policy that supports exporting aerospace products to keep American national defense and global alliances strong.
