MEDIA ADVISORY: TOMORROW: Senators Shaheen and Booker, Houston Mayor Parker and Philadelphia Mayor Nutter to Host Press Conference Call to Discuss Department of Homeland Security Funding Deadline

Shaheen, Booker, Parker and Nutter to highlight local consequences of agency shutdown Call comes as agency funding set to expire in less than three weeks

Washington, DC – Tomorrow at 2 P.M. EST U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Cory Booker (D-NJ), U.S. Conference of Mayors Criminal and Social Justice Committee Chair, Houston Mayor Annise Parker, and U.S. Conference of Mayors Past President, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter will host a press conference call to discuss the importance of fully funding the Department of Homeland Security through the remainder of the 2015 fiscal year. Currently Republicans are pursuing legislation that would be vetoed by the President due to the inclusion of extraneous policy riders, putting the agency at risk of a shutdown. Shaheen, Booker, Parker and Nutter will specifically highlight how an agency shutdown would jeopardize funds for local first responders and other federal efforts that keep our communities safe.

Media interested in joining the conference call should contact Nick Brown at Nick_Brown@shaheen.senate.gov for call information.
