SHAHEEN ANNOUNCES NEW PERSONAL PASSPORT SERVICES IN PORTSMOUTH

(Washington, D.C.)-U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today announced that the U.S. Department of State will be adding personal passport services to the National Passport Center in Portsmouth starting in October. These added services, made possible through funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will increase convenience for New Hampshire residents who need an expedited passport, which will be the first location in the state for emergency passport services.  Until this time, New Hampshire residents needing emergency passport services had to travel to Boston.

"The new services available in Portsmouth will help New Hampshire residents who need an expedited passport get the help they need in a more convenient place, and I'm glad these services will be available this year," said Shaheen.

The National Passport Center, which currently employs 840 workers and is located at 107 International Drive in Portsmouth, will issue U.S. passport books and passport cards onsite to qualifying customers who plan to travel within 14 days or have a life or death emergency. Customers may also obtain additional visa pages and replacement passport books and cards on an expedited basis.

Passport information, including fees and how to apply for a U.S. passport book and passport card, is available at travel.state.gov. U.S. citizens may also obtain information and schedule appointments at passport agencies by calling the Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778.
