SHAHEEN, AYOTTE HAIL JUDGE LANDYA MCCAFFERTY’S NEW HAMPSHIRE DISTRICT COURT NOMINATION, URGE SWIFT CONFIRMATION

(Washington, DC) - Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) today released the following statement applauding Judge Landya McCafferty’s nomination to the New Hampshire District Court bench.  If confirmed, Judge McCafferty, who currently serves as U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of New Hampshire, would be the first woman to ever serve in this position.

“Judge Landya McCafferty is an incredibly qualified and accomplished individual with extensive federal court experience. Her nomination is a testament to her impeccable credentials and we are confident that she will serve the federal bench well. We look forward to supporting her historic nomination and urge the Senate to conduct a swift confirmation.”

McCafferty has served as the U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of New Hampshire since June 2010.  Her extensive federal court experience includes clerking for the Honorable Norman H. Stahl at both the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire and the First Circuit of Appeals.  She has also clerked for the Honorable A. David Mazzone at the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.  As a Magistrate Judge, Landya has become a nationally recognized expert and leader on using technology to achieve a more efficient and paperless workflow.
