Shaheen Demands Congressional Approval before Any New Military Action Against Iran

SHAHEEN: “The American people should have a say on matters of war, and Congress is meant to be their voice”

(Washington, DC)—U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement ahead of a scheduled vote tomorrow in the Senate on requiring congressional approval for military action against Iran:

“The American people should have a say on matters of war, and Congress is meant to be their voice,” said Shaheen. “That’s why Congress’ oversight role is enshrined in the constitution and shouldn’t be ignored by any administration. I will vote in favor of this important amendment tomorrow so that the Trump administration understands that it must come to Congress before using military force against Iran.”
