(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) today is leading an effort in the Senate to end the duplicative and wasteful U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) catfish inspection program, which costs taxpayers money and hurts businesses. Senator Shaheen successfully rallied support for a seldom-used procedure to overcome obstruction of legislation that would get rid of this unnecessary program. Senator Shaheen’s motion will be voted on in the Senate soon. On the Senate floor, Shaheen discussed the four-year effort to put an end to this program, which has impacted jobs in New Hampshire and across the country.
