Shaheen Statement Congratulating Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), lead Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation, released the following statement congratulating the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, only the second woman to hold that office:

“I offer my congratulations to Prime Minister May and wish her well as she sets a new course for the United Kingdom,” said Senator Shaheen. “As we just saw at the NATO summit that concluded this past weekend, cooperation between the U.S. and the U.K. remains critical to addressing shared challenges and achieving shared goals, and I am confident Prime Minister May will sustain the special relationship between our countries.“
