SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S VISIT TO PORTSMOUTH

(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today released the following statement on President Obama's visit to Portsmouth to discuss health care reform:

"Today, President Obama effectively set the record straight on health insurance reform for the people of Portsmouth and the country. The plan we are working on will let people keep their doctor and their insurance plan if they like it, expand coverage options for people that need it, and stabilize costs for families, businesses and our economy.

"We must identify ways to make the system more efficient, and I was pleased the President mentioned reducing unnecessary re-hospitalizations, a problem I am working to address with the Medicare Transitional Care Act I recently introduced.

"I'm happy the President led this open and honest dialogue in New Hampshire today, and I look forward to working toward a bipartisan health care bill this fall."
