(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) today released the below statement on the nomination by President Barack of Obama of Dartmouth College President Jim Yong Kim to become the new president of the World Bank:

“I offer my congratulations to Dartmouth College president Jim Yong Kim. Jim has been a leader on global health issues, and his focus on eliminating poverty and promoting sustainable development make him an excellent choice to become the new president of the World Bank.  I have had the pleasure to work with him on important issues such as energy policy and healthcare reform, and I have seen his dedication firsthand. While New Hampshire will be sad to lose him, I wish him the best of luck.”
