Shaheen Statement on the Resignation of National Security Adviser General Flynn

**SHAHEEN: “The Republican leadership in Congress must end its foot-dragging, expedite an investigation and hold public hearings.”

(Washington, DC)— U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement on the resignation of National Security Adviser General Michael Flynn:

“I’ve had long-standing concerns about General Flynn’s judgment and his interactions with the Russian government,” said Shaheen. “Considering the mounting evidence, his resignation was the right call. However, there remain pressing unanswered questions about the Trump campaign and Trump administration’s communications with the Russian government. The Republican leadership in Congress must end its foot-dragging, expedite an investigation and hold public hearings. There is ample evidence to be highly concerned about Russia’s attempts not only to influence our elections but also to influence this administration.”

Senator Shaheen, alongside Senator Richard Blumenthal, twice called for a review of Gen. Flynn’s security clearance in letters to top U.S. officials. You can view those letters here and here
