SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON THIS AFTERNOON'S PAYCHECK FAIRNESS VOTE

September 10, 2014

(Washington, DC) - U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on this afternoon's Senate vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act:

“Today we have the chance to address a wrong that has kept millions of American women from earning the same amount as their male counterparts and eliminate the gender pay gap. I hope my colleagues will join me in supporting this much-needed legislation and finally pass the Paycheck Fairness Act. The Paycheck Fairness Act is a common-sense plan that supports the basic idea that all Americans should receive equal pay for equal work. I will continue to fight this inequality until it is corrected, and it’s time for Republicans in the Senate to stop playing politics with this important legislation that will help women, families and our economy in New Hampshire and across the country.”
