Shaheen Statement on Vote Against Attorney General Nominee Todd Blanche

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on her vote against President Trump’s nominee to be U.S. Attorney General, Todd Blanche:

“Todd Blanche has proven himself to be unfit to be the next attorney general. He is the architect and champion of the President’s corrupt slush fund, which would channel $1.8 billion in tax dollars to people who assaulted police officers defending the U.S. Capitol and attempted to overthrow the government. He’s refused to give the American people assurances that this outrageous weaponization fund is dead.

“Instead of fighting corruption, Blanche helped the President himself, his family and his businesses get off the hook and exempted by the IRS. That’s not the way our country should work—no elected officials should be above the law. At a time when so many Americans are struggling to get by, it’s absolutely unacceptable for any public official to be given a green light to enrich themselves or their political allies.”
