SHAHEEN: WE HAVE A MORAL OBLIGATION TO ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement this afternoon on the need to address climate change in a way that will create jobs and reduce American dependence on foreign oil all while protecting the environment for future generations:

“I’ve long believed that we have a moral obligation to address climate change and the time for action is now. By acting quickly, we’ll not only be protecting our environment for future generations but we can also create jobs, grow our economy and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

“Implementing a national energy efficiency strategy is the best way for us to accomplish all these goals. The bipartisan plan I’ve introduced with Senator Portman is a smart, pragmatic energy efficiency policy that will reduce costs for businesses, lower energy consumption, and create good paying jobs in New Hampshire and across the country. It’s long past time that the Senate considered this plan and on behalf of American workers and future generations, I hope that we finally get a vote on our legislation in July.”
