SHAHEEN WELCOMES SUPREME COURT RULING ON CROSS-STATE POLLUTION

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement welcoming the Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule which regulates pollution crossing state lines:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision will allow us in New Hampshire and throughout New England to breathe a little bit easier. Studies show that the EPA’s rule will particularly help states like ours which have too long suffered the public health consequences of pollution from out of state energy production. Cleaner air will help protect the health and welfare of our citizens and our environment, but as a whole our country must move toward clean energy production. We must invest in clean energy because that will not only help reduce pollution but also create jobs. I will continue to fight in the Senate to make those types of investments on behalf of our environment and our economy.”
