Taxpayer Advocate

The Taxpayer Advocate's Office is an independent organization within the IRS established to protect the rights of the taxpayers.  The Taxpayer Advocate service offers, free, independent, and confidential advice to taxpayers who have not been able to solve their problems through the normal IRS channels.  If action by the IRS will prevent you from providing for necessities such as housing, transportation, or food, you may request the assistance of the Taxpayer Advocate.

Please note:  The Taxpayer Advocate should only be contacted after you have tried to resolve your tax related issue through normal IRS channels (below).
