Senator Shaheen visits Nashua Community College’s Aviation Technology Center

(Nashua, NH)—Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, visited Nashua Community College (NCC) to tour and learn about their new Aviation Technology Center—the only FAA-certified program in the state. The expansion of this program was made possible by the funding Shaheen secured last year to support the purchase of updated training aids and equipment. During her visit, Shaheen met with faculty and students to learn more about the program’s curriculum and discuss how the funds she secured are helping the Center.

“Nashua Community College’s Aviation Center is strengthening New Hampshire’s aviation industry, and it was great to see firsthand how the federal funds I secured are helping expand and develop this program,” said Senator Shaheen. “This investment is bolstering our state’s economy and providing Granite State students interested in aviation with access to the equipment and resources necessary for career success.”

With these federal funds, NCC is able to grow their  aviation technology training facility on their Nashua campus. This center enables NCC to provide state of the art education and training for students seeking an associate’s degree in aviation technology and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification as airframe and powerplant mechanics.

Senator Shaheen has long advocated for programs and resources that support New Hampshire’s aviation industry. As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and a lead negotiator of the bipartisan infrastructure law, Shaheen has played a leading role in securing federal dollars for numerous projects across the state that invest in the safety and improvements of New Hampshire’s airports.
