ICYMI: Shaheen, Hassan Reintroduce Legislation to Ensure that the Entire Town of Swanzey Shares the Same Unique ZIP Code

**North Swanzey is Currently Under the ZIP Code of Keene, Despite Being Officially Recognized as a Part of Swanzey**

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) reintroduced legislation to require the United States Postal Service to designate a single, unique ZIP code for Swanzey, New Hampshire. North Swanzey is fully incorporated in the town of Swanzey, but shares the 03431 ZIP code with Keene, instead of the 03446 ZIP code for the rest of Swanzey. The lack of a uniform ZIP code has led to mis-delivered or delayed mail and slowed emergency response times.

“A single, unique zip code for the town of Swanzey is long overdue,” said Senator Shaheen. “For too long, residents have dealt with unnecessary confusion, mis-delivered or delayed mail and slower emergency response times. I’ll continue working to see this legislation signed into law.”

“The town of Swanzey includes the neighborhood of North Swanzey and it’s long-past time for it to also have its own zip code,” said Senator Hassan. “Giving Swanzey its own zip code will help cut down on mail delays, emergency response times, and general confusion, and finally fix a problem that residents of Swanzey have had to face for far too long.”

Shaheen and Hassan have long championed legislation that would designate a single, unique ZIP code for Swanzey. Last month, Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) helped pass companion legislation through the U.S. House of Representatives.
