RANKING MEMBER SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON FY2016 HOMELAND SECURITY APPROPRIATIONS BILL

(Washington, D.C.) –  U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee, gave the following statement after the release of the FY16 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill:

“This bill is tasked with providing the resources needed for the security of our borders, the safety of our communities, and the protection of our federal computer networks that are under relentless attack from cyber criminals,” said Shaheen. “This is a bipartisan effort that makes good use of the funds provided. I appreciate that the legislation has not reduced important state and local grants, and am especially pleased that there’s significant funding for local fire department grants. In the wake of the recent federal employee data breach, this legislation takes appropriate steps to ramp-up our efforts to protect federal databases from cyber-attacks. ”
