SHAHEEN JOINS THIRD WAY AS HONORARY CO-CHAIR

Washington -Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Kay Hagan (D-NC), and Chris Coons (D-DE) announced today that they will be joining Third Way, an innovative and influential think-tank that creates and advances moderate policy and political ideas, as Honorary Senate Co-Chairs.

Third Way President Jonathan Cowan said: "Third Way is honored to have such dynamic and respected Senate leaders joining us as honorary co-chairs. Senators Shaheen, Hagan, and Coons share in our belief that economic growth, fiscal discipline and a bipartisan spirit of national unity are matters of great importance to this country. We are excited about the impact that our work together will have."

Senator Shaheen said: "Competitiveness is key to our long-term economic growth and to our national prosperity. Third Way has been a leader in charting thoughtful and innovative approaches to these issues, and I look forward to continuing and expanding my work with them."

Senator Hagan, a recent appointment to the Banking Committee, has worked to advocate moderate, bipartisan policies since coming to the Senate. "I am honored to work with Third Way and other moderate members of Congress to advance sensible, bipartisan solutions that will strengthen the economy and move North Carolina and our country forward," said Hagan. "North Carolinians are sick of Washington partisanship. Working together, we can move away from the polarization that has caused so much gridlock on Capitol Hill to create a business climate in this country that allows for job creation and economic growth."

After five years leading Delaware's largest county as County Executive and balancing six straight budgets, Senator Coons brings a commitment to fiscal responsibility to the Senate. Senator Coons said: "Having spent eight years as in-house counsel to one of America's most innovative hi-tech manufacturing companies, I am excited to join an organization that understands the importance of a strong national commitment to innovation. Third Way continues to offer fresh thinking on how to grow jobs in this country-strengthening the middle class and promoting economic growth."

Senators Shaheen, Hagan, and Coons join Senators Tom Carper (D-DE), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), and Mark Udall (D-CO) as Third Way's Honorary Senate Co-Chairs.
