SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT'S PROPOSED BUDGET

(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama's proposed budget:

"This proposal is a good starting point for Congress' discussion of the 2012 budget, and while I question some of the President's priorities, I believe it a responsible framework that balances economic growth and the need to address the deficit.

"However, it is clear from the numbers that this budget alone does not address our deficit concerns. We must look at a comprehensive deficit reduction and tax reform package that tackles all aspects of this problem. To do this right, it's going to take shared sacrifice on all sides. But we must get it done."
