Shaheen Statement on Passing of Former NH Commissioner of Safety Dick Flynn

(Manchester, NH) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement in response to the death of former New Hampshire Department of Safety Commissioner Dick Flynn. Flynn served as Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Safety throughout Shaheen’s tenure as Governor of New Hampshire.

“My heart goes out to Dick Flynn’s family, friends and community members as we all grieve his loss. Dick dedicated his life to serving Granite Staters, first with the Dover Police Department where he capped off his career as Chief, and later through his leadership as Commissioner of the NH Department of Safety, where we worked side-by-side during my time as Governor,” said Shaheen. “Dick’s devotion to keeping Granite Staters safe was unmatched and recognized by everyone around him. He was so trusted by Granite Staters, law enforcement and lawmakers that he served through nine administrations, both Democrat and Republican, for 35 years. Our state and people were kept safe because of his vigilance and dedication. He will be deeply missed.”
